She was received on a working visit by the Minister of Finance, Aleksandar Damjanović, with whom, among other things, she discussed the realization, that is, the installation of the second cable, for which it is necessary to create institutional and market assumptions as soon as possible.

Marsella, as reported by the relevant Ministry, said that this energy project is of high importance for both countries and that there is a great interest in speeding up the installation of the second cable in Italy as well.

The strategic project of laying the submarine electric transmission cable was realized with the cooperation of the Italian company Terna and the Montenegrin Electric Transmission System (CGES).

Marsella assessed that the construction of another cable will additionally contribute to the energy networking of all Balkan countries, where Montenegro will be recognized as a center for directing electricity to Italy and other countries.

Damjanović characterized this project as one of the most economically significant for Montenegro.

Damjanović and Marsella, in an open and friendly tone, discussed the possibilities of improving the traditionally good cooperation that Montenegro and Italy cherish.

Damjanović said that he is grateful for the open and concrete support that Italy provides to Montenegro on the path of European integration, evaluating it as one of the more reliable and stimulating partners on that path.

Marsella said that her country is still ready to sincerely support the accession of Montenegro to the European family, as well as that she expects the dynamics of that path to accelerate in the coming period.

It was established that the two countries have an enviable level of economic cooperation, which after the coronavirus pandemic recorded a growth trend both in terms of trade, investments and the representation of Italian tourists, as well as in the part of close and diverse bilateral cooperation in the field of culture, education, but also at the municipal level.

After a short discussion on the current economic and political situation, the conversation was concluded with the assessment that the prerequisite for economic and financial stability, which is the focus of the Ministry of Finance, is also political stability, which is also a prerequisite for accelerating the European integration of Montenegro, local media reports.
