The average gross salary in May was EUR 988

Average salary without taxes and contributions in May, according to Monstat data, amounted to EUR 793 and was 0.9 percent higher than in April.
The average net salary in May, compared to the same month last year, increased by 11.7 percent.

“If it is taken into account that consumer prices in May compared to April recorded a growth of 0.5 percent, it follows that real earnings for the same period recorded a growth of 0.4 percent,” the announcement states.
Average earnings without taxes and contributions in May increased compared to April in the sectors of accommodation and food services by 2.8 percent, agriculture, forestry and fishing by 1.9 percent, administrative and auxiliary service activities and state administration and defense: mandatory social insurance by 1.8 percent, health and social care 1.6 percent, construction 1.5 percent, wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles 1.4 percent and professional, scientific and technical activities and artistic entertainment and recreational activities 1.3 percent each.
Growth was also recorded in the sectors transport and storage and financial and insurance activities by one percent each, information and communications by 0.9 percent, water supply and waste water management by 0.7 percent, education by 0.4 percent and other service activities by 0.3 percent.
The decrease in net earnings in May, compared to the previous month, was recorded in the electricity supply, gas, steam and air conditioning sectors by one percent, mining and stone mining and real estate business by 0.6 percent, and manufacturing industry by 0.2 percent.
