A one-way Kotor-Lovćen cable car ride for adults will cost EUR 13, while the price of a return ticket is EUR 23.
“The prices of children’s tickets are significantly lower, so a cable car ride in one direction costs EUR 7, or EUR 12 for both directions. Free rides are provided for children under the age of two. Benefits are also defined for people with disabilities (PWD), so the price of a one-way ticket will be EUR 7, i.e. EUR 12 for both directions,” states the announcement of the Kotor-Lovćen Žičara company.
The company announced that the cable car will be opened for commercial rides on August 14th, starting at ten o’clock.
“One of the most important Montenegrin tourism infrastructure projects, which has been waiting for almost a century, has been brought to an end, a year and a month after the foundation stone was laid, which we consider an exceptional success considering the degree of complexity of the entire process. We express our special and greatest gratitude to the Prime Minister, Dritan Abazović, without whose involvement and the help of his team, this project would not have been completed,” said the company.
They said that they can proudly point out that Montenegro will soon have a cable car overlooking one of the most beautiful bays in the world, whose construction, as well as safety checks and protocols, correspond to the highest international standards.
“Thanks to the strategic partnership with the Montenegrin Commercial Bank (CKB), which provided financial support for the construction of the cable car, their clients will be able to enjoy discounts when purchasing tickets. Also, thanks to the trust and support that Mastercard gave to the project through the partnership, significant discounts were provided for the visitors of the cable car,” the statement added.
Owners of Mastercard payment cards in the period from the opening of the cable car until September 15th can obtain a price reduction in the amount of 5 EUR for each purchased ticket.
Discounts are valid for payments with Mastercard payment cards issued by all banks in Montenegro, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), regardless of card type. The number of rides paid for with the same Mastercard debit card is not limited, i.e. the cardholder has the right to a reduction in the ticket price, even if he rides the cable car more than once during the campaign period.
The Kotor – Lovćen cable car project is implemented by the Novi Volvox – LEITNER consortium on the basis of a concession contract signed in December 2021. Not long after, on July 12th last year, the foundation stone was laid.
The route of the cable car starts from Dub, which is located in the territory of the Municipality of Kotor, and leads to the location of Kuk on the Lovćen mountain, at 1.35 thousand meters above sea level. The projected capacity is 48 gondolas at the level of 1.2 thousand passengers per hour, while the travel time from Dub station to Cook station is less than 11 minutes.
