The renowned Indian health institute Asian Cancer Institute – Cumballa Hill Hospital is interested in investing in the Meljine Hospital and Dr. Simo Milošević Institute in Igalo.
As it was announced, the Minister of Finance Aleksandar Damjanović received the representatives of this health institute led by Rahul Bajpai, the chief executive director, and the management members of that institution Ramakant Krishnaji Deshpande, Hriday Rajiv Thakker, as well as their representative for the Western Balkan region, Sava Jasnić.
“Discussing the possibilities of cooperation and development of projects in the field of health, the management of the recognized institute expressed interest in investing in the health system of Montenegro, primarily through cooperation with the Meljine Hospital and the Dr. Simo Milošević Institute, both through the engagement of their professional medical staff, and possible by participating in the management and ownership structure of those institutions”, the announcement states.
Damjanović said that he was extremely pleased with the interest of an international credible health entity in investing in the Montenegrin health system, especially in two very important institutions, for which the Government is trying to find the most sustainable and profitable business model, and which are important not only for Montenegro, which are also trusted by the countries of the developed European market.
He pointed out that despite the financially and technically difficult circumstances in which these institutions find themselves, they continue to inherit professional staff, which, with responsible management, world-class expert help and strategic investment, could be the foundation for the future development of healthcare and healthcare tourism in Montenegro. During the constructive discussion, it was jointly stated that future cooperation would be mutually beneficial, resulting in more efficient service of the health system of Montenegro, greater operability and world-class clinical excellence.
As it was concluded, this would enable patients in Montenegro not only to receive adequate and affordable health care, but would also absolutely reduce the need for our citizens to seek medical help abroad – the announcement reads.
The representatives of the Indian clinic said that they are very interested in expanding to the Western Balkans market, as well as that their team of doctors is visiting it studiously, with the assessment that the absence of specialized clinics, especially oncology, health experts and certain medicines, has been established.
The Indian doctors with whom Minister Damjanović spoke said that they visited Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina before Montenegro, stressing that they see Montenegro as a strategic partner for the entire region.
“Therefore, it was agreed to organize a tour of the mentioned Montenegrin health institutions for which they expressed great interest and a meeting that would include the Ministry of Health, as well as the Ministry of Economic Development and Tourism”, it was stated.
