In the first nine months of the year, Montenegro’s total foreign trade reached €3.48 billion, marking a 2.7% increase compared to the same period last year, according to preliminary data from Monstat.
Exports amounted to €433.1 million, a decrease of 16.2% compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, imports rose to €3.04 billion, an increase of 6.1%.
The coverage of imports by exports was 14.2%, down from 18% in the same period last year.
Mineral fuels and lubricants dominated exports, valued at €98.2 million, including €69.3 million in electricity. In terms of imports, machines and transport equipment led the way at €735.5 million, with road vehicles accounting for €276.9 million.
Montenegro’s largest export partners included Serbia (€124.5 million), Bosnia and Herzegovina (€27.7 million), and Slovenia (€25 million). The major import partners were Serbia (€523.6 million), China (€355.6 million), and Germany (€294.2 million).
The foreign trade exchange was primarily with signatories of the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) and the European Union (EU).
