Delaying or failing to adopt the national budget is preventing investments that were intended to boost the development of Kolašin as the most promising tourism and sports center in Montenegro and the region, said the Vice President of the Municipality of Kolašin, Vasilije Ivanović.
He explained that, due to the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) blocking the parliament, investments are at risk, which in turn jeopardizes the safety of Kolašin’s citizens.
“Projects like the construction of the gondola, the development of the sports zone, the reconstruction of ‘Uško Grlo’ at the entrance to Kolašin from Vladoš, the adaptation of the road from Savrdak to Bjelasica, and many others are now in question because of the opposition’s behavior during the session of the Parliament of Montenegro where these decisions are to be made,” Ivanović said.
He emphasized that the budget allocated funds for the renovation and reconstruction of roads and infrastructure that have been neglected for decades, which were not previously prioritized for maintenance.
“The question arises as to whether anyone from the DPS, who is obstructing the work of the parliament, will be willing to take responsibility for accidents and the endangerment of people’s lives caused by the infrastructure left by that very DPS,” Ivanović added.
He further stated that the most accurate description of the situation is that the party is defending its legacy and trying to prevent Montenegro from moving forward.
“I have no doubt that the President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Andrija Mandić, will wisely use the opportunities allowed by the parliamentary rules to ensure that the session runs smoothly, the budget is adopted, and that the factions of the old regime do not become an obstacle to Montenegro’s development,” Ivanović concluded.
According to him, this is just another last attempt to keep Montenegro trapped in the time defined by the previous regime.
