Key infrastructure projects and improvements in the maritime sector must be a joint effort, which will contribute to the continued economic development of the Municipality of Tivat and the entire country of Montenegro, said the Minister of Maritime Affairs, Filip Radulović.
During a recent meeting with the President of the Municipality of Tivat, Željko Komnenović, and his team, Radulović emphasized the importance of the maritime sector and investments in maritime infrastructure.
“The establishment of anchorages in the Tivat water area, the possibilities for introducing order and enhanced control mechanisms in this area, the establishment of a marina for municipal moorings in Seljanovo, and the uninterrupted operation of the electric-powered ferry service are just some of the topics discussed,” the Municipality of Tivat announced.
Komnenović informed Radulović about the ongoing process of amending the Temporary Facilities Program in the Maritime Domain, which will more precisely define the treatment of anchorages near the island of Sveti Marko in Tivat’s water area.
The Municipality of Tivat has allocated funds for their establishment and will take the necessary actions to make them operational in the coming period.
“Our goal is to introduce order into the water area and take advantage of the fact that thousands of vessels stay in the bay during certain parts of the year. The formation of anchorages must be accompanied by the establishment of adequate services, such as black tank waste disposal services, which are of significant economic and ecological importance,” said Komnenović.
He expressed the Municipality’s willingness to contribute to this pioneering initiative.
The Deputy Mayor and the manager of the Municipality, Jovan Brinić and Ivona Petrović, also discussed with the Ministry’s representatives the necessary legal and technical steps to be taken in order to implement the establishment of anchorages in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and rules.
