On Friday, January 31, retail sales of the largest chains in Montenegro—Voli, HDL, Idea-CG, Domaća Trgovina, and Megapromet—fell by 56.14% compared to the previous week, following a call for a boycott from Alternativa Crna Gora (ACG). The northern region saw the biggest drop in sales, with a 61.4% decrease, while the central and southern regions experienced drops of 57.89% and 52.2%, respectively.

ACG representatives expressed satisfaction with the turnout, stating that the boycott message was effective in raising awareness about high prices in stores. They emphasized that the goal was not to harm businesses but to draw attention to the economic issues facing citizens.

ACG is awaiting responses from the Chamber of Commerce and Employers’ Union. If no action is taken, ACG may organize another boycott next weekend, focusing on specific stores or perishable goods like meat and dairy products.
