Traffic growth and features of Princess Ksenija highway

Since the beginning of this year, 1.64 million vehicles have passed on the Princess Ksenija highway, according to Monteput data.

In 2024, the highway saw 2.87 million vehicles, 2.29 million in 2023, and 1.14 million in 2022.

The priority section of the Bar-Boljare highway was officially opened on July 13, 2022, and opened for traffic the next day.

Toll fees started after a free first week: €1.5 for motorcycles, €3.5 for passenger cars, and €17 for trucks and buses.

The first section is 41.5 kilometers long and includes 20 main route bridges, nine ramp bridges, two overpasses, eight underpasses, 7.2 kilometers of concrete walls, and 16 twin tunnels.

There are four interchanges with toll booths connecting the highway to existing roads at Smokovac, Pelev Brijeg, Veruša, and Mateševo.

The maximum speed limit is 100 km/h.
