Paving of the remaining 17-kilometer section of the main road from Berane to Ribarevine is set to begin in the coming days, marking one of the final phases of the €36 million reconstruction project on the Lepenac–Ribarevine–Berane route, one of northern Montenegro’s largest road projects.
Around 80% of the groundwork is complete, with contractor Bemax delaying asphalt works slightly due to a late delivery of equipment for a new state-of-the-art asphalt plant. Paving will start from the Berane side once the issue is resolved, with the road built to high durability and quality standards.
Local residents, who have endured dust, noise, and uneven surfaces during construction, expressed relief at the upcoming paving. Community representatives praised the efficient cooperation between locals, the contractor, and the Transport Administration in addressing daily requests.
Work will continue without traffic closures during the summer tourist season. The completion deadline for the Ribarevine–Berane reconstruction is December 29, extended to include additional works such as sidewalks and street lighting.
