Montenegro sees mixed Q2 transport trends: Passenger growth in road and air, rail and local declines

In Q2 2025, Montenegro’s passenger transport rose in road and air sectors but fell in rail and local road services, according to Monstat.

Road passenger numbers increased by 4.6%, and air passengers by 11%, while rail transport fell 5.8% and local road transport dropped 21.9%.

Freight transport grew in rail (30.8%) and total port cargo throughput (0.6%), but declined in road (-2%) and airport freight (-3%). Ports handled 7.3% fewer transshipped tonnes, but 4.1% more processed cargo overall.

The number of registered road motor and trailer vehicles reached 84,300, up 7.9% year-on-year. First-time vehicle registrations totaled 9,980, down 5%.
