The Government approved the allocation of €300,000 from the current budget reserve to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to ensure the maintenance, spare parts, and aviation fuel necessary for the continuous operation of helicopters from the Directorate for Emergency Situations and the Montenegrin Air Force, which are actively engaged in firefighting across Montenegro.

The Directorate and the General Staff of the Armed Forces requested urgent funding to maintain helicopters and purchase fuel to continue firefighting and rescue operations. Around €50,000 is needed for spare parts for two MIA helicopters currently out of service.

Helicopter aviation fuel reserves have dropped to cover only five days of active operation due to increased field activity. Flight operation costs are approximately €1,400 per hour, including €600 for fuel. Helicopters are expected to operate at least 350 hours, requiring the additional €300,000 from the reserve.

Fuel will be supplied by Jugopetrol AD at Podgorica Airport, with costs invoiced to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Ministry of Finance issued a positive opinion on the request on August 13, 2025.
