Montenegro’s Central Bank Governor Irena Radović highlighted that the CBCG’s reforms in SEPA integration and supervisory enhancements align directly with European standards, marking a key step toward Montenegro’s integration into the EU single market.

Radović emphasized that for small economies like Montenegro, aligning with EU rules is not merely technical but essential for building trust, attracting investment, and creating opportunities for citizens and businesses.

Speaking at the 2025 European Forum Alpbach in Austria, Radović participated in a panel on “The Future of Monetary Policy and Financial Markets in Europe,” noting that central banks face complex challenges, including geopolitical tensions, climate change, accelerated digital transformation, and structural economic shifts.

The forum stressed the importance of deeper financial market integration, completing the Banking Union, finalizing the Capital Markets Union, and simplifying and harmonizing regulatory frameworks. Radović also highlighted the need for credible European solutions for digital forms of money, such as stablecoins, while maintaining financial stability and trust.
