Montenegro’s Kuća Maslina launches olive oil production and packaging facility with support for local growers

The olive oil production, packaging, and storage line at the Kuća Maslina facility in Stari Bar has officially started operating, using a mechanical cold-centrifugation system. The project was financed with support from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management and the Municipality of Bar.

Registered olive growers in Montenegro are eligible for free olive processing, while non-registered growers or those with groves outside Montenegro pay 0.10 euros per kilogram of olives. The facility also offers packaging services for extra virgin and virgin olive oil at preferential rates for registered growers (0.50 euros per unit) and slightly higher rates for others (0.80 euros per unit). Packaging includes bottling, sealing under inert gas, and labeling.

Producers must provide proof of registration in the national agricultural registry to access free processing and preferential packaging rates and are required to supply their own packaging materials. Transport containers are available for purchase at nominal prices.

The facility also purchases olives and extra virgin olive oil from Montenegrin indigenous varieties, including Žutica and other local types. Due to limited processing capacity and high demand, olive growers are encouraged to reserve processing slots in advance by contacting the facility directly.
