Montenegro sees 0.1% monthly drop in consumer prices in September, annual inflation at 4.9%

Consumer prices in Montenegro, measured by the consumer price index, fell by 0.1% in September compared to August, according to data from Monstat. Compared to the same month last year, prices were on average 4.9% higher.

The largest negative impact on the monthly inflation rate came from price declines in accommodation services, fruits, vegetables, and air transport.

From January to September, compared to the same period last year, consumer prices were on average 3.8% higher, Monstat reported.

By major categories of goods and services, September saw price increases compared to the previous month in clothing and footwear (2.4%), housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (0.8%), furniture and household equipment (0.6%), health (0.2%), and other goods and services (0.1%).

Price declines were recorded in restaurants and hotels (2.6%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.6%), transport (0.5%), and recreation and culture (0.2%).

Prices of other goods and services remained largely unchanged.
