The Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG) clarified that the Development Bank of Montenegro has not yet submitted a request to open an account in the domestic payment system, refuting media claims that the institution is “stuck in a bureaucratic dispute” between the CBCG and the Ministry of Finance.

“The Development Bank of Montenegro has not filed a request to open an account in the domestic payment system operated by the Central Bank. Therefore, the CBCG could not act on a request that was never submitted,” the statement said.

The CBCG emphasized that there is no dispute or administrative delay between the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance regarding this matter and that all CBCG procedures are fully in line with the law and applied equally to all participants in the payment system.

The institution added that it remains available to provide technical and regulatory support to all state bodies and financial institutions.
