Aegean Airlines to resume Athens–Podgorica flights in summer 2026

Greece’s national airline, Aegean Airlines, plans to launch a regular flight route between Athens and Podgorica starting next summer. Flights are currently scheduled to begin on March 31, 2026, operating twice weekly on Tuesdays and Sundays. During the peak summer season, the airline will add a third weekly flight on Thursdays.

According to Avio Portal, due to limited capacity at Athens Airport and air traffic control congestion in the Greek capital, Aegean may shift some flights to depart from Thessaloniki, which would also allow additional connections to other destinations in the airline’s network—potentially including Montenegro.

Aegean had previously considered resuming the Podgorica–Athens route but abandoned the idea for the upcoming winter season, meaning no direct flights will operate between Montenegro and Greece during that period.

The announcement for summer 2026, however, is a positive signal of renewed interest in restoring air connectivity between the two countries, especially given the growth in tourism and business travel in the region.
