Durmitor officials say they are fully prepared for the upcoming winter season. If everything goes according to plan, the first artificial snow on Savin Kuk could appear this winter.

The cable car on Žabljak, although old and slow, carried a record 23,000 visitors this summer. It has since undergone maintenance and is now ready for the winter season, according to staff at the Savin Kuk ski resort.

Marinko Purić, Executive Director of the Durmitor Tourist Center, said that all necessary inspections, certificates, and permits for the installations have been completed and approved for the opening of the winter season.

“We have also completed other types of maintenance, including mechanical repairs and the replacement of several components. As far as we are concerned, both the system and the installations will definitely be ready for the upcoming winter season,” Purić stated.

The artificial water reservoir in Žabljak, built some time ago but unused until now, is finally operational. With over 50,000 cubic meters of water, it holds more than enough to produce artificial snow for the entire ski slope on Savin Kuk, the resort’s management confirmed.
