Tivat has reported a total of 4,468 registered tourists at the beginning of October, marking a 6% increase compared to the same period last year. This uptick signifies a potential extension of Montenegro’s coastal tourism season beyond the typical summer months.
The majority of visitors, totaling 4,404 tourists, were foreign nationals, indicating a strong interest from international travelers.
Private accommodations have continued to lead in popularity, with 3,494 guests opting for these options, while only 974 tourists chose to stay in hotels.
The primary markets contributing to this influx include Russia and Serbia, along with notable numbers from Britain, Ukraine, the United States, Türkiye, Germany, and Israel.
This data suggests a significant shift in Tivat’s tourism strategy. The municipality is increasingly bolstered by high-end real estate developments, marina facilities, improved aviation links, and private lodging options rather than relying solely on hotel occupancy during the peak July-August period.
A robust off-peak season could enhance yearly occupancy rates and revenue streams for accommodation providers, restaurants, retail outlets, and transportation services while lessening reliance on the brief summer peak.
Tivat is particularly well-equipped to capitalize on these trends due to its airport facilities, marina infrastructure, and a concentration of upscale residential and tourism projects.
Despite the growth in tourism numbers, the reliance on private accommodations highlights that a substantial portion of visitor demand is still directed away from traditional hotel offerings.
If this upward trend persists through October, Tivat may solidify its status as one of Montenegro’s most resilient destinations for year-round tourism and real estate investment.
