Members of the Coordinating Body for the Implementation of the Velje brdo Project inspected work on Podgorica’s access boulevard on 4 November 2026, as construction continues. The boulevard, about 5.3 kilometres long, will connect the existing city road network with the future Velje brdo settlement.
The road will have four traffic lanes, cycle paths, pavements and supporting municipal infrastructure. It is part of one of the capital’s most significant infrastructure projects and is intended to enable the settlement’s further development, providing infrastructure for its future residential and commercial complex.
The Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property are participating in the project. Both ministries are continuing activities on projects that respond to the capital’s needs and contribute to better living conditions for residents.
Bojana Mitrić, Director General of the Directorate for Capital Projects in Building Construction and Tourism Infrastructure, Health and Education, said the parcel covers about 62,000 square metres. The concept design complies with the urban planning and technical conditions and the Spatial-Urban Plan, with more than 30% of the area allocated to green space. Roads cover about 10,000 square metres.
Mitrić said the block was intended to support more than apartment construction: “to create conditions for sustainable and humane living, where they will have space for recreation and gatherings.”
