Adriatic 42: Pioneering Montenegro’s superyacht industry with ambitious expansion plans

After decades in global shipbuilding, Erik Rober-Pejar now leads Adriatic 42, positioning Montenegro as a key destination for superyacht refits. By 2026, the company plans a €25 million investment to expand facilities, aiming to accommodate the largest yachts in the Mediterranean.

Adriatic 42 employs around 100 workers, mostly from Boka Kotorska, and collaborates with over 100 subcontractors. Future plans focus on increasing capacity, enhancing efficiency, and developing winter storage solutions.

The company prioritizes local talent, working closely with the University of Montenegro’s Maritime Faculty. Key leadership roles are held by Montenegrin professionals, combining commercial shipyard experience with modern yachting expertise.

Since opening, Adriatic 42 has serviced around 40 yachts (15-95 meters). The shipyard handles complex refits, painting, and interior upgrades, with clients from brands like Ferretti and Riva.

Through partnerships with Caterpillar, Prento Yacht and Riva Yacht, Adriatic 42 supports local job creation and strengthens Montenegro’s maritime sector.

Over the next five years, Adriatic 42 aims to become a global leader in yacht maintenance and refits, particularly for 70m+ vessels, further cementing Montenegro’s reputation in luxury yachting.
