The organization Alternativa Crna Gora (ACG) has called on the Minister of Economic Development, Nik Đeljošaj, to take urgent and concrete action regarding the alarmingly high prices of essential food items, as stated on their Facebook page.

They believe it is high time that the Ministry of Economic Development takes decisive measures to protect citizens’ standards of living, rather than observing the problem from a distance and delaying its resolution.

In their letter to Đeljošaj, they urge him to urgently arrange a meeting with representatives from retail chains to find a compromise solution for reducing the prices of basic necessities. They also demand concrete economic measures to make prices more affordable for everyone, as well as the introduction of subsidies and guaranteed purchase of all domestic production.

ACG also calls for clear labeling of domestic products in all supermarkets “so that citizens can consciously choose and support the local economy.”

“We expect the responsible minister to respond immediately and announce the concrete steps they plan to take in order to protect citizens. Our goal is clear; we want real changes that will improve the standard of living for all citizens, who have already shown through their boycott of supermarkets that they can be a force for change. Now it is time for the Ministry of Economic Development to prove that they truly serve the people,” stated ACG.

They also urged citizens to remain united and persistent in this fight, emphasizing that only together can they bring about changes that will benefit everyone.

On Monday, based on a poll conducted on their Facebook page, ACG called on citizens to boycott Voli supermarkets for seven days.
