Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming various sectors, and tourism is one of the industries where its potential is becoming increasingly evident, said Minister of Tourism, Simonida Kordić.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Tourism, Kordić participated in the 18th Ministerial Summit in London, held as part of the World Travel Market (WTM).
The Summit gathered 65 ministers from around the world to discuss the theme “Artificial Intelligence for Good in Tourism.”
Kordić highlighted that, alongside the many benefits, it is crucial to also address the challenges posed by AI. She emphasized the importance of working together to ensure AI is applied responsibly, with the highest standards of safety and transparency.
“Artificial intelligence is transforming many sectors, and tourism is one where its potential is becoming more and more apparent,” Kordić said.
She further explained that, in today’s world where travelers seek more authentic, faster, and personalized experiences, AI offers opportunities that tourism destinations and companies around the world are recognizing and leveraging to provide the best services.
The statement also mentioned that Kordić held a discussion with the Minister of Tourism of Oman, Salim Almahruki, on the sidelines of the Summit.
“The two sides agreed that tourism is an economic engine that shapes a country’s character, and that, with many similarities, relations should be improved, including the establishment of an air link between our countries,” the statement reads.
Kordić pointed out that Montenegro and Oman have not yet signed any international agreements on tourism cooperation, something that should be considered for the future.
Almahruki shared insights from Oman’s experience in developing luxury and adventure tourism, as well as wellness tourism, and discussed investment opportunities in these areas.
“The importance of digitalization was also emphasized, and it will be a focal point in the coming period,” the statement added.
Both sides expressed a desire to continue the dialogue, and Kordić invited Almahruki to visit Montenegro.
