In May, the average salary in Montenegro, before taxes and contributions, was €1,010, marking a 0.5% increase compared to April, according to Monstat data.
The average net salary in May rose by 21.9% compared to the same month last year, while the average gross salary reached €1,200.
However, with consumer prices increasing by 0.6% from April to May, real wages slightly decreased by 0.1% during the same period.
Salary growth was recorded in several sectors, including agriculture, forestry and fishing (3.1%), other service activities (1.4%), manufacturing and accommodation and food services (both 1.2%), water supply and waste management (1.1%), and wholesale and retail trade (1%).
Moderate increases were also seen in arts and entertainment, mining, professional and scientific activities, health and social care, transport and storage, public administration, construction, and information and communication.
Sectors experiencing a decline in average salary compared to April included real estate (-6.7%), financial and insurance activities (-1.4%), education (-0.3%), and electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (-0.1%).
