In October, the average gross salary in Montenegro was 944 EUR, reflecting a 7.6% increase compared to September, according to Monstat data. The average net salary grew by 17.6% compared to the same month last year. The gross salary for October reached nearly 1,140 EUR.
Monstat explained that, given that consumer prices remained stable from September, real wages rose by 7.6% during this period. The agency also clarified that the methodology used for calculating the average salary includes all salaries paid in October, not just those calculated for the month itself (which are paid by mid-November). This means that the survey does not account for all October salaries, which will be included in the November data, scheduled for publication on December 30. The full effects of the “Europe Now 2” program will also be seen in this future report.
In terms of sector performance, salary increases were noted across various industries. The largest growth in October was recorded in professional, scientific, and technical activities, which saw a rise of 16.5%. Financial and insurance activities followed closely with a 14% increase. Other sectors such as information and communication (13.9%), accommodation and food services (10.9%), transport and storage (10.6%) and construction (10.1%) also saw significant salary growth.
Other notable increases were seen in real estate activities (9.6%), other service activities (9.4%), wholesale and retail trade (8.8%), manufacturing (8.7%) and energy, health and social protection sectors (7.1%). Additionally, arts, entertainment and recreation saw a 7% increase, while agriculture, forestry, and fishing had a rise of 5.9%.
Salary increases were also observed in public administration and defense (5.1%), education (3.4%), water supply and waste management (3.1%) and mining (1.4%). Monstat confirmed there were no sectors where salaries had decreased compared to the previous month.
