The integration of the Bar Port information system with the SEED+ system marks a significant advancement in facilitating trade and improving logistics efficiency, CEFTA announced.

This data exchange for the entry and exit of empty trucks in the Bar Free Zone eliminates the need for multiple manual data entries. Now, data is entered only once into the Bar Port system and then automatically transferred to SEED.

“As a result, truck movements in and out of the Free Zone have become significantly faster and simpler, benefiting all key stakeholders — including transport companies, exporters, importers, port operators, and the Customs Administration,” the statement said.

For transport companies, this integration means shorter waiting times at Free Zone gates, enabling more efficient use of trucks and drivers. Exporters and importers benefit from faster cargo transport, reducing delays and improving supply chain reliability.

The port operator gains from quicker cargo processing in warehouses, while congestion at entry and exit gates is substantially reduced. Last but not least, the Montenegrin Customs Administration receives data in advance, allowing them to shift focus from manual data entry to risk assessment and analytics, further enhancing security functions within the Free Zone — an area of particular importance and sensitivity.

“In addition to operational efficiency, this integration brings notable environmental and social benefits. With fewer trucks waiting in long queues, air pollution levels in Bar decrease, leading to improved air quality for residents. The city also benefits from safer and smoother pedestrian and tourist movement, as streets are no longer burdened by excessive heavy traffic,” the statement added.

In summary, the successful integration of these IT systems has not only simplified trade operations but also contributed to a cleaner, safer, and more efficient transport ecosystem in Bar.
