Representatives of the Montenegrin Electricity Transmission System (CGES) and investor Qair Montenegro signed an agreement in Podgorica for connecting the Rudine Solar Power Plant (SE Rudine) to the transmission system. This marks another step in the development of renewable energy sources and the strengthening of Montenegro’s energy stability.
The agreement was signed by Ivan Asanović, CEO of CGES, and Stefan Klikovac, representing Qair Montenegro. Both CGES and Qair Montenegro representatives expressed satisfaction with the agreement, highlighting the importance of investments in renewable energy and their impact on the country’s economic and environmental sustainability.
According to CGES, the SE Rudine project, valued at approximately €40 million, will significantly contribute to increasing clean energy production and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
“This project is part of a broader sustainable development strategy, and its implementation represents a step forward in the energy transition,” the statement added.
The Rudine Solar Power Plant is expected to become operational by the end of 2028, when it will be connected to the transmission system. The connection point has been determined based on an analysis and is located at the 110-kilovolt (kV) busbars in the (220)/110/35 kV Vilusi substation.
Qair Montenegro is part of the QAIR Group, which specializes in renewable energy, financing, construction, and operation of solar, wind, and waste-to-energy projects, as well as energy storage and green hydrogen production.
QAIR Group currently operates one gigawatt (GW) of installed capacity, with a team of 660 employees working on developing a portfolio of 34 GW across 20 countries in Europe, Latin America, and Africa.
The management of QAIR aims to position the company as a leader in responsible energy production.
Today’s signing ceremony was attended by Aleksa Knežević, Chief of Staff to the CEO of CGES, as well as Magdalena Kolanowska, Krzysztof Wajtysiak, and Miloš Jovanović, representing the investor.
