The Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro (PKCG) expressed satisfaction following a discussion at the Faculty of Economics regarding the Analysis of Prices and Business Operations of Trade Enterprises in Montenegro. The Chamber emphasized that it was once again confirmed that the Montenegrin economy, particularly the retail chains, are not the drivers of inflation.
“We reiterate that the unanimous conclusion of government representatives and the academic community during yesterday’s meeting is the best confirmation of our stance. The boycott of the economy is meaningless, and the causes of inflation lie elsewhere,” stated the Chamber in its announcement.
Regarding this ongoing issue, the Montenegrin economy recently sent a call to Prime Minister Milojko Spajić for an urgent meeting in order to take immediate action to address negative trends in the business environment and create the necessary conditions for the preservation and development of the economy.
“We hope, and entrepreneurs expect, that the meeting will take place soon, especially since it was once again confirmed today that trade is not the generator of inflation, and its causes need to be analyzed further,” the announcement read.
The PKCG also noted that an unjustified boycott and targeting of retail chains harms not only them but also everyone in the supply chain: producers, particularly local ones, distributors, importers, employees, and ultimately the state.
A panel discussion was held on Wednesday, where government representatives and the Faculty of Economics discussed the analysis conducted by a team of professors from the Faculty of Economics for the Chamber of Commerce.
