Monteput has selected the joint bid from the Podgorica-based companies Via Project, CDS Project and Geotin MNE for the design of the Smokovac-Tološi highway section, valued at €654,200. This section, part of the Bar-Boljare highway, spans 10 kilometers and is intended to serve as a bypass around Podgorica, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion in the city.

The tender, launched on September 10 and closing on October 11, had an estimated value of nearly €1 million. These three companies also won the contract in mid-November for the design of the Andrijevica-Berane-Boljare highway section, worth €3.65 million. However, a complaint was filed against this decision on November 25, putting the process on hold until a final decision is made.

Via Project, CDS Project, and Geotin MNE will subcontract companies such as Aqua Engineering, Intecon, Geotest Engineering, MMK Control and Optimus Project to carry out the project.

According to Monteput, the design speed for the Smokovac-Tološi section is set at 100 km/h, with a particular focus on environmental protection, especially preserving the Magara Cave. The project will include two interchanges – Smokovac, connecting the Podgorica-Kolašin road with the existing Smokovac-Mateševo section, and Tološi, linking the Podgorica-Nikšić road. Additional facilities such as rest areas and gas stations are planned near Velje Brdo.

The Smokovac-Tološi section is part of a larger network of highways and fast roads planned in Montenegro, which includes 18 sections defined by the government through five development corridors: the Bar-Boljare highway, the Adriatic-Ionian highway, a fast road along Montenegro’s coast, a fast road from Bijelo Polje to Pljevlja, and a fast road connecting Podgorica, Nikšić, Žabljak and Pljevlja.
