Montenegro’s inflation trends: June 2024 insights

In June, consumer prices for goods and services, measured by the Consumer Price Index, rose by an average of 4.1% compared to the same period last year, as reported by Monstat. Month-on-month, prices saw a slight increase of 0.1% from May. The main contributors to this monthly inflation rate were increases in prices across several categories including accommodation services, fruits, meat, dairy products (milk, cheese, eggs), air passenger transport, coffee, tea, cocoa, mineral water, non-alcoholic beverages, fruit and vegetable juices, as well as oils and fats.

From January to June, consumer prices increased by an average of 4.8% compared to the same period in the previous year.

Analyzing major product and service groups by consumption purpose, June saw increases compared to the previous month in restaurants and hotels by 3.6%, furniture, household equipment, and routine home maintenance by 0.9%, other goods and services by 0.9%, health by 0.5%, alcoholic beverages and tobacco by 0.2%, and food, non-alcoholic beverages, recreation, and culture by 0.1%.

Statisticians highlighted price declines in clothing and footwear by 1.7%, transportation by 0.7%, and communications by 0.1%.
