In May, consumer prices for goods and services, measured by the consumer price index, rose by an average of 4.9% compared to the same month last year, according to data from Monstat.
Compared to April, consumer prices increased by 0.1% on average.
“The highest impact on the monthly inflation rate was due to price increases in categories such as fruits, milk, cheese, and eggs, clothing, accommodation services, meat, air passenger transport, bread and cereals, fish and seafood,” stated Monstat.
From May to June this year, consumer prices rose by an average of 4.9% compared to the same period last year.
Looking at major groups of products and services based on consumption purposes, in May compared to the previous month, there was an increase in prices in the categories of restaurants and hotels by 1.3%, clothing and footwear by 0.9%, alcoholic beverages and tobacco by 0.3%, health by 0.2%, and food and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.1%.
Price declines were observed in the categories of transport by 0.8%, furniture, household equipment, and routine household maintenance by 0.4%; other goods and services by 0.4%, and recreation and culture by 0.1%.
Prices for other products and services did not significantly change.
