In January, the total collection of customs revenues amounted to 87.25 million euros, which is an increase of 13.22 million euros or 17.86% compared to the same period last year, according to the Customs Administration.
Breaking down the collected revenues, the value added tax (VAT) on imports amounted to 52.61 million euros, which is 11.31% or 5.34 million euros higher than in the same period last year.
“Excise tax collected amounted to 30.68 million euros, which is 7.29 million euros or 31.16% more than the previous year,” the statement said.
Customs duties amounted to 3.75 million euros, which is an increase of 591.88 thousand euros or 18.75%, while the tax on coffee amounted to 185.42 thousand euros.
Other revenues were collected in the amount of 26.07 thousand euros.
“The activities of the Customs Administration in the upcoming period will focus on increasing the collection of customs revenues and creating a favorable environment for economic business, while fully applying customs regulations,” the statement concluded.
