At a parliamentary anti-corruption committee session, Barska Plovidba director Boris Mihailović rejected claims by Admiral Holding that corruption was involved in the sale of the company’s old building.
Admiral’s lawyer, Miloš Vukčević, argued that Admiral had offered 200,000 euros more than the winning bidder, Roaming, and that rejecting their offer caused financial harm to both Barska Plovidba and the state. He said Admiral’s bid was formally correct and that the later claim of an invalid power of attorney was fabricated. Admiral has filed a lawsuit and a criminal complaint against Mihailović.
Mihailović countered that Admiral’s bid was formally invalid, pointing to a notarized statement he says was false because Admiral’s representative visited the property only as a private individual, not as an authorized representative. He stressed that the decision was made in consultation with the board, ministries, and the state’s legal representatives, and that the Roaming bid of 1.75 million euros was accepted to help cover company debts.
Members of parliament said it is up to state institutions and the courts to determine the facts, warning that the committee cannot resolve such disputes while legal proceedings are ongoing.
