Work on key infrastructure and environmental projects in Pljevlja is progressing as planned, with the possibility of shortening deadlines being considered, according to a statement from the Electric Power Company of Montenegro (EPCG).
EPCG Executive Director Ivan Bulatović and his team visited project sites today to assess opportunities for accelerating certain activities and improving intersectoral cooperation.
During a coordination meeting held in Pljevlja, EPCG management toured locations related to the ecological reconstruction of the Pljevlja thermal power plant (TPP), as well as areas tied to the planned rerouting of the Ćehotina River and the expansion of the Maljevac ash landfill.
“The main focus of discussions with our partners, including representatives from the Pljevlja Coal Mine, was to further synchronize activities to optimize deadlines wherever possible—without compromising the quality and standards of the work,” the company stated.
Bulatović emphasized the importance of these projects for the development of northern Montenegro and the overall energy stability of the country.
“We are satisfied with the pace of work, but our goal is to finish ahead of schedule where feasible, while maintaining high quality. EPCG is making significant investments in Pljevlja because we believe in its potential and understand that citizens expect visible progress,” said Bulatović.
He noted that this is a strategically important moment for the energy and environmental future of the region, and that their on-site presence aims to motivate all participants involved.
EPCG will continue to monitor and support all phases of project implementation in Pljevlja, with the goal of building a sustainable, responsible, and modern energy system.
