EPCG and EPS discuss joint energy projects and future plans for 2025

Representatives of the highest management levels of Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) and Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) met in Podgorica to discuss the current electricity situation, opportunities for electricity trading, and the plans of the two national energy companies for 2025, as announced by Elektroprivreda Crne Gore.

The meeting from the side of Elektroprivreda Crne Gore was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Directors Milutin Đukanović, Executive Director Ivan Bulatović, Technical Director Dr. Ljubiša Đurković, Executive Managers of FC Supply Jovan Kasalica, the Directorate for Development and Investments Ivan Mrvaljević, and the Directorate for Energy Management Darko Krivokapić, as well as the member of the Board of Directors of EPCG Prof. Dr. Zoran Miljanić and Assistant Executive Director for Financial Affairs Miro Vračar.

The EPS delegation was led by General Director Dušan Živković, and its members included Assistant General Director for Managing the Energy Portfolio David Žarković, Executive Director for Technical Affairs in Coal and Energy Production Savo Bezmarević, and Ana Ćirić Mitrović from the Office of the General Director of EPS.

EPCG Chairman Milutin Đukanović expressed satisfaction with the meeting, noting that it was a good opportunity for a joint review of current challenges and those that lie ahead in this particularly demanding year for both companies. He also informed the EPS representatives about the implementation of current projects in the field of renewable energy, with an emphasis on those developed under the “produce where you consume” principle, as well as EPCG’s business policy of utilizing existing hydroelectric infrastructure for the installation and connection of solar capacities.

The EPS representatives were also informed about EPCG’s plans to build battery systems with a capacity sufficient to store approximately 300 MWh of electricity, which would contribute to the additional stability of the electricity system.

A significant portion of the discussions focused on the upcoming shutdown of the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant due to the completion of ecological reconstruction works on the only thermal block in Montenegro, as well as the challenges related to securing sufficient energy supplies for uninterrupted customer service and the stable operation of the company.

After the meeting, EPS General Director Dušan Živković emphasized the importance of discussing issues of mutual interest and sharing experiences in the realization of energy projects.

The meeting also addressed the energy market and the potential for joint project implementation.
