Electricity Production Company of Montenegro (EPCG) plans to increase average electricity prices for distribution consumers, including households, by six percent annually over the next four years. This projection is outlined in the company’s four-year business plan, which is in the possession of the Action for Social Justice (ASP).

According to the plan, no increase in the price of active electricity for distribution consumers is expected this year, while prices are projected to rise by six percent each year from 2025 to 2028.

ASP notes that active electricity is just one component of the overall electricity tariff, with other components including reactive energy, charges for network losses, and costs associated with renewable energy sources (RES).

EPCG anticipates that the price of active energy for households with single and dual tariff meters will rise from the current €43 per megawatt to approximately €54 per megawatt by 2028.

For this year, the purchase price of electricity from RES is set at €85 per megawatt, with expected increases each year, reaching nearly €97 per megawatt by 2028.

According to the statement, the price of electricity to cover distribution losses for the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System (CEDIS) is planned to be around €100 per megawatt. CEDIS, as a subsidiary of EPCG, operates under regulated conditions, with a significant portion of losses directly impacting consumers.

Additionally, a supply of approximately 19 gigawatts of electricity per year is planned for Uniprom at a price of €47 per megawatt, projected to rise to around €50 per megawatt next year, and nearly €60 per megawatt by 2028.

In the coming weeks, an official announcement is expected regarding any potential increase in electricity prices for households, which was initially scheduled for this year but was postponed at the last minute.
