A feasibility study for a cable car connecting Bar, Mount Rumija and Lake Skadar is expected to be completed by the end of September, after which a tender will be issued for the detailed design, construction, and project review. Construction could begin in the second half of next year.

The project is being led by the Municipality of Bar, with the feasibility study contracted to Podgorica-based company Geo-Sistem for €82,644 (excluding VAT). Two subcontractors, Liming Projekt and StructurArch Group, are handling technical documentation, mechanical and civil design, and environmental impact assessments.

The cable car route is planned to span approximately 6.5 kilometers, connecting suburban Bar with areas near Mount Rumija and Lake Skadar. The study will determine the exact route, station locations, and property arrangements, while ensuring compliance with environmental protection, national park regulations, and cultural heritage preservation.

Financing, total project cost, and access roads are not yet determined, with decisions expected after the feasibility study provides guidance on investment value, funding models, and route alignment.

The project aims to enhance Bar’s tourism offering and increase revenue from tourism while requiring coordination between the Municipality of Bar and multiple state agencies, including the Ministries of Public Works and Urbanism, National Parks Authority, Railways Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, and others, for technical documentation, permits, and property arrangements.
