Director of the Center for Research and Development of Tourism, Petar Golubović, expects a record tourist season, and in order for earnings to be record, as he says, due to inflation, tourism revenues must range from EUR 1.3 to 1.4 billion.
Golubović said in the morning program of TVCG that the announcements about a record summer tourist season are realistic.
– Expectations that the season will be a record are justified. I believe in that and I’m sure it will be like that – said Golubović, for TVCG.
However, when it comes to income, he reminds that in 2019 we earned 1.15 billion from tourism, but as he adds, due to inflation, it will not be the same if we generate income of 1.2 billion EUR this season.
– The value of that money in 2019 and today will not be the same, but thanks to inflation, it will be smaller. In order to achieve a historical result of both income and the value of that income, that income must be at the level of EUR 1.3 or 1.4 billion – said Golubović.
Data on tourist visits, he says, show that we had good results in May, while June was below expectations.
– We lost June, which we hoped would be better, bearing in mind that we had a record in May – said Golubović.
He also says that bad weather is one of the reasons for fewer tourists visiting during June.
– Some reservations were canceled due to weather conditions. However, the guests who came were mostly those who came from abroad and booked low cost tickets in advance – said Golubović.
He also points out that the hotel facilities have not failed, and that they are recording historical results.
– He has booked private accommodation that relies on people coming in their own arrangements – concluded Golubović.
