Time Out magazine presented a list of the 30 most beautiful places in the world, led by Kotor.
Noting that choosing the most beautiful places in the world is not an easy task, it was stated that the locations from the list of the most beautiful were chosen by a network of world travel writers who experienced the beauty of each place that was on the list.
The first place on the list was the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro, where “the Adriatic Sea in the narrow passages of the steep Dinaric Alps forms the Bay of Kotor”.
– Here, squeezed between the water and the rocks, is the triangular, medieval Old Town of Kotor, with its gravity-defying fortress that zigzags up the steep cliffs above – said Time Out magazine contributor, Paul Stafford.
It goes on to add that although it is possible to climb the steps of the fortress from the city, he prefers to wander along the winding shepherd’s paths on the northern wing of the fortress.
– Here, in the middle of the ruins of an abandoned village without a road, you can try homemade sheep’s cheese and rye bread in the last inhabited village house, with a view of the glassy, obsidian water of the bay – he continues.
Iceland came second on the list, followed by Erg Chebbi in Morocco, Mont-Saint-Michel in France, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, and Ella in Sri Lanka.
