Last year, over 18,000 companies were owned by foreigners, mostly from Turkey and Russia

Last year, there were 18,402 foreign-owned companies in Montenegro, Monstat announced. That is, they are an increase of 25.4% compared to the year before, when there were 14,673.

– The largest number of active foreign-owned business entities was in Budva – 5,768, which represents 31.3% of the total number. Podgorica and Bar are next – the announcement states.

According to the country of origin, the largest number of foreign companies are owned by Turkish citizens – 5,002 or 27.2%.

– In second place is Russia with 4,378 business entities, i.e. 23.8%, followed by Serbia with 2,140, ​​i.e. 11.6% and Ukraine 874 business entities, i.e. 4.7% – Monstat data show.

By activity sector, the largest number of foreign-owned enterprises is in the wholesale and retail trade sector, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles – 3,973, followed by professional, scientific and technical activities and construction.

– If we look by municipalities and country of origin, Budva and Podgorica have the most foreign-owned companies from Turkey, and Bar, Herceg Novi and Tivat from Russia – the announcement concludes.
