An active poll on social media is allowing citizens to vote on which retail chain they plan to boycott for an extended period, said Nikola Bezmarević from Alternative Montenegro.
He emphasized that a final decision will be made on Tuesday, and this move is a result of the chains’ owners remaining silent and failing to lower prices.
Bezmarević told Montenegro Television that they are satisfied with the boycott’s progress.
“Saturday is a day when most citizens shop, since Sunday is a non-working day, but I must say that we are generally satisfied with yesterday and today. One can say the boycott is successful,” said Bezmarević.
He mentioned that, unfortunately, they still haven’t received feedback from the retail chains regarding price reductions, despite continuous appeals for them to speak out.
Bezmarević stated that they don’t want to be forced into more radical actions, but the lack of response from retail chains led them to launch a poll to decide which chain will be boycotted for a longer period.
“The poll is active, and citizens can vote. One retail chain will be boycotted for an extended period. This is not ideal but is an enforced solution, so we urge them to respond,” Bezmarević said.
He added that the poll will remain open until Tuesday, after which a decision will be made.
“This is the first time we are united with a common goal, and this has nothing to do with politics. The boycott is successful and will continue until we achieve our goal,” concluded Bezmarević.
