Montenegro has achieved a good level of alignment with the European Union (EU) aviation legislation, according to the latest European Commission (EC) report.
The report highlights that the Civil Aviation Agency (ACV) is diligently working to make progress in this sector and to monitor the development of civil aviation, with the goal of ensuring continued safety and security in air traffic.
The EC’s report also noted that, before Montenegro can move to the next phase of the European Common Aviation Area (ECAA) agreement, certain requirements regarding competition protection and state aid must be fulfilled.
The Competition Protection Agency (AZK) has already informed the EC representatives about this matter during the June meeting of the Joint ECAA Committee in Podgorica.
The ACV has coordinated with the AZK to present the results from this area to the EU and to seek guidance on how to further encourage progress.
The ECAA is an agreement aimed at creating a common European aviation area, and Montenegro is one of its signatories. The agreement plays a crucial role in the EU enlargement process and the economic development of the involved countries. The Joint ECAA Committee is responsible for overseeing its implementation and proper application.
