Five major infrastructure projects are currently underway on Montenegro’s Luštica Peninsula, representing tens of millions of euros in investment aimed at improving transport, water supply, and cultural facilities.
Key developments include:
- 2.5 km of the Monterose road have already been constructed, with a total planned length of 8 km. The road is expected to enhance accessibility to the Rose settlement.
- Two primary water reservoirs have been completed, and a third is under construction, forming the backbone of the peninsula’s upgraded water network.
- The secondary water network for Rosa and Gornji Klinci is set to begin soon, expanding service coverage.
- Renovation of the Cultural Center in Klince is planned, addressing decades of neglect.
- The road from Klinci to Erak will be expanded, including retaining walls and asphalt surfacing.
Local municipalities, in cooperation with the national government, are funding these projects, with over €500,000 allocated from the Herceg-Novi budget for secondary water network construction and cultural center renovations.
Officials stress that these infrastructure improvements are essential for unlocking Luštica’s tourism potential. Enhanced roads and reliable water supply are critical for attracting investment, developing tourist facilities, and improving the overall visitor experience.
Additional projects in the broader region include 12 km of new pipelines, five new reservoirs, and the Trebinje–Sitnica–Mojdež pipeline, demonstrating a broader commitment to modernizing water infrastructure.
Authorities emphasize that improved accessibility and infrastructure are prerequisites for tourism development, ensuring that Luštica can fully capitalize on its natural and cultural assets.
