The Ministry of Tourism has allocated €182,000 from its own budget for the first phase of the artificial snowmaking project at the Savin Kuk ski resort. This, according to the Ministry, is a clear indication of its commitment to improving the winter tourist season.

Tourism Minister Simonida Kordić stated that although the Ministry has only been operational for the past four months, and started with a portion of the budget inherited from the previous ministry, they have already taken the first concrete steps and launched the long-awaited artificial snowmaking project.

“We secured funding for the construction of basic infrastructure and the purchase of the first snowmaking guns for Savin Kuk,” Kordić said.

The Ministry also highlighted that this is the first time funds have been secured for the purchase of snowmaking equipment for state-owned ski resorts in Montenegro, marking another step towards enhancing the country’s tourism offerings and ensuring favorable conditions for maintaining the winter season.

Additionally, this initiative marks the beginning of the implementation of a strategy to minimize the impact of climate change on the winter tourism season and to create multi-purpose sports and recreational infrastructure.

“This is just the first concrete step by the Ministry of Tourism, which plans to continue investing and stimulating the development of tourism infrastructure, especially in northern Montenegro, which is crucial for developing a year-round and more modern tourism offer,” the statement reads.

As a result, the Savin Kuk ski resort will maintain its significance on the map of Montenegrin ski centers, increase the number of ski days, and contribute to the economy at both the local and national levels.
