Montenegro grants €4 million for wastewater treatment and water supply improvements in Kolašin

The Government of Montenegro has agreed to allocate up to €4 million in credit to the Municipality of Kolašin for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant, sewer network and improvement of the water supply system under the “Water Supply and Wastewater in Montenegro” financial agreement.

The project includes the construction of a wastewater treatment facility with a capacity of 6,000 equivalent inhabitants (EH) and a 23 km sewer network, with an initial phase planned for 4,000 EH and 9.2 km of network.

The government has approved an agreement to transfer the credit funds secured through an arrangement between the Government of Montenegro and the European Investment Bank (EIB) and has accepted the text of the contract.

The estimated project value is €12 million, with €8.3 million from an investment grant from the Western Balkan Investment Framework (WBIF) and €4 million from the EIB, as announced by the government after yesterday’s session.

The statement also noted that the evaluation of bids is currently underway as part of the tender process for supervising the construction of the sewer network and wastewater treatment plant, along with the implementation of water supply measures. Concurrently, efforts are being made to align the tender documentation for selecting a contractor for these activities, with a public call for the tender expected to be announced in the fourth quarter of 2024.
