The cooperation between Montenegro and Kazakhstan is good, but there is significant potential for improvement, said the Minister of Tourism, Simonida Kordić, during a meeting with the General Consul of Kazakhstan in Podgorica, Gabiden Temirbek.
“The Ministry of Tourism is highly interested in developing and expanding cooperation with new or relatively new markets. In this sense, our collaboration with Kazakhstan is very important, particularly focusing on issues related to air connectivity and visa regulations, which we are addressing in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” said Kordić.
Temirbek mentioned that Montenegro is the most attractive destination for Kazakhstani citizens, which led to the opening of a diplomatic mission in Podgorica.
“There is a great interest among our citizens to vacation in Montenegro. Therefore, it is important for us to have information regarding the possibility of a visa-free regime. We are also interested in signing a memorandum of cooperation between the tourism ministries and later facilitating student exchanges during the summer for further education in this field,” said Temirbek.
Kordić informed him that she had already insisted on a swift decision regarding the visa policy and is hopeful that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with Brussels, will find a solution that aligns with EU standards but does not undermine Montenegro’s position in the market.
She also emphasized her strong support for finding a long-term solution to the recurring challenge each year, which includes the introduction of an electronic visa system.
“There were also discussions about investment opportunities, and there is interest from Kazakhstan’s business community,” the statement concluded.
