Montenegro and Romania are interested in increasing tourist exchange, but to achieve this, a direct flight between the two countries is necessary, as noted in a meeting between Montenegro’s Minister of Tourism, Sinonida Kordić, and Romanian Ambassador, Viorel Ardeleanu.

The Ministry of Tourism announced that Kordić proposed discussing this possibility with representatives from the Ministry of Transport and Montenegro’s Airports, adding that similar initiatives have proven successful in the past.

The meeting concluded that greater promotion of Montenegro’s potential in the Romanian market is essential.

Kordić expressed satisfaction with the current cooperation and emphasized that there is room for improvement, which requires closer communication between the tourism sectors of both countries.

“Montenegro and Romania have traditionally good relations, with no open issues. We are very grateful for your support in our European journey. We hope that Montenegro will become an EU member by 2028, which will also impact our position on the global tourist map,” said Kordić.

She also stated that this creates a solid foundation for further strengthening relations in the tourism sector.

Ardeleanu confirmed Romania’s support for Montenegro and invited Kordić for an official visit to Romania when the opportunity arises.

He believes that the potential for religious tourism should be better utilized, as there are already groups of tourists from Romania visiting the Ostrog Monastery.
