Montenegro and Spain have the potential to deepen their cooperation in tourism, healthcare and infrastructure, according to discussions held between the Montenegrin Ministry of Finance and Álvaro Muñoz Camacho, Economic Advisor at the Spanish Embassy in Montenegro.
The meeting was led by Jovana Nišavić, State Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, who emphasized that the Government of Montenegro is committed to strengthening its economy by enhancing economic ties with European countries. She highlighted Spain as a traditionally friendly nation with which Montenegro seeks to further improve its economic partnership.
Muñoz praised Montenegro’s rapid economic progress and noted the growing interest of Spanish companies in investing in the Balkans, particularly in Montenegro, which is seen as the next member of the European Union.
Tourism, healthcare, and infrastructure were identified as key sectors where cooperation could be further intensified.
Muñoz expressed Spain’s willingness to provide expert and technical support to Montenegro. Nišavić welcomed this offer, emphasizing the importance of such assistance, particularly in areas like taxation and customs, and recalled previous successful joint projects in these domains.
The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding of the benefits of expanding bilateral economic cooperation between the two countries.
