Montenegro and UNDP explore opportunities for enhanced cooperation in infrastructure and regional development

There are open potential opportunities for enhancing cooperation in infrastructure, regional development and inspection oversight, stated Milun Zogović, Deputy Prime Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, and Ekaterina Paniklova, UNDP Resident Representative in Montenegro.

During their meeting at the Government, the two emphasized the importance of development projects that can contribute to sustainable growth and more efficient resource management.

“Through collaboration in the field of infrastructure, the goal is to improve the quality of life in various regions and promote more balanced regional development,” the statement reads.

The Cabinet of the Deputy Prime Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development noted that Montenegro has made significant efforts in aligning its legislation with EU standards on its path to EU integration.

“Cooperation in addressing challenges related to the implementation of harmonized legislation is particularly significant, as the effective enforcement of laws is crucial, especially in the area of inspection oversight,” the statement added.

This marks an important step in strengthening the partnership between Montenegro and UNDP, with a particular focus on the vital support of international organizations such as UNDP in addressing the challenges on Montenegro’s EU integration path.

The meeting was also attended by Ivan Bošković, Head of the Sector for Management and Responsible Institutions at UNDP Montenegro.
