The installation of wind turbines has begun at the future Gvozd wind farm, Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) announced.
As part of Montenegro’s strong investment cycle aimed at building modern and sustainable energy infrastructure, German Ambassador to Montenegro Peter Felten visited EPCG to discuss strategic renewable energy projects, including Gvozd wind farm, with EPCG’s CEO Ivan Bulatović and Director for Development and Investments Ivan Mrvaljević.
The meeting covered Montenegro’s energy transition projects, EPCG’s future plans, and opportunities to strengthen cooperation with German partners in green energy, digitalization, and modernization of the electricity system.
CEO Ivan Bulatović highlighted that Ambassador Felten’s visit reflects growing trust and interest from European partners in Montenegro’s energy sector and EPCG’s progress in implementing strategic investments.
“It is an honor to host Ambassador Felten and present one of our most important projects – the Gvozd wind farm. This visit shows support for Montenegro, its energy sector, and everything we do at EPCG. It confirms that we are on the right path in the energy transition. We hope to produce the first kilowatt-hours from this site and inject them into our grid by the end of the year,” Bulatović said.
Ambassador Felten expressed satisfaction with EPCG’s progress in renewable energy, noting his excitement at witnessing the installation of the first turbine components.
“I believe this is an important day for Montenegro and for EPCG, which is now beginning to integrate wind energy into its portfolio. We are also pleased that EPCG relies on German engineering excellence for this project. Nordex, a company that has installed more than 40 gigawatts worldwide, is now participating in Montenegro for the first time. These are high-tech, highly efficient turbines, and I believe German engineering expertise will contribute significantly to Montenegro’s green energy transition, where wind power will play a key role,” Felten said.
The Gvozd wind farm, now in its final construction phase, continues EPCG’s successful collaboration with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and represents a significant step toward achieving Montenegro’s National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) targets.
The project’s involvement of German company Nordex further demonstrates EPCG’s strong partnership with German industry and the tangible results this cooperation delivers in renewable energy.
EPCG remains committed to strengthening international partnerships, developing new technologies, and implementing projects that contribute to a stable, economically sustainable, and green future for Montenegro.
